Collection: Herbs, Perennial

Growing perennial herbs from seedlings provides you with a long-lasting and rewarding source of fresh herbs for culinary, medicinal, and ornamental purposes. With proper care and attention, you can enjoy a steady supply of fresh herbs year after year, perfect for enhancing a variety of dishes, soothing ailments, and adding beauty to your garden or landscape. Generally, it's best to wait until perennial herbs have become established before harvesting, typically after the plants have reached about six to eight inches in height.

Easy Care for Years of Flavorful Herbs
Choose a sunny location in your garden with well-draining soil enriched with compost or organic matter, as most perennial herbs thrive in full sun.

Harvesting your herbs begins when plants reach 6-8 inches tall with at least three branches, ensuring no more than one-third of the plant's growth is removed at a time. Specific techniques for harvesting include using scissors or pruning shears for clean cuts above a leaf node or near the base of the plant, depending on the herb. Regular harvesting not only promotes bushier plants but also secures a continuous supply of fresh herbs for cooking, drying, or preserving.
